I am very glad to write this
letter to you. How is your school ? We are preparing for the Independence Day
Celebrations. So everybody is very busy.
First, we are going to have
some sports competition. The winning team will receive a big goat as a prize.
I’m going in football and volleyball competitions.
Then we are going to have a wayang show on the night before the
Independence Day. The dalang is a famous
one from Yogyakarta. He will perform all night long. Have you ever seen a wayang show ? It is very entertaining.
And I’m going to attend a flag
raising ceremony at school on Independence Day. After that, we will give out
prizes to the competition winners.

Charles Robert
Darwin was an English scientist, who proposed and provided evidence for the
scientific theory that all species have evolved through natural selection.
This theory became widely accepted by the scientific community in the 1930s,
and now become the basic of modern evolutionary theory.
Darwin developed his
interest in natural history at Edinburgh University while studying first
medicine, then theology. His five-year voyage on the Beagle established him
as a geologist whose observations and theories supported Charles Lyell’s
uniformitarian idea, and publication of his journal af the voyage made him
famous as a popular author.
His study on the
geographical distribution of wildlife that he colected during the voyage,
resulting his theory of natural selection in 1838. Having seen other being
attacked for similar ideas, he confided only to his closest friends and
continued his research. In 1858, Alfred Russell Wallace sent him an essay
describing a similar theory, causing the two to publish their early theories
in a joint publication. In 1859 He published his famous book, The Origin of
Species.

Whales are large, intelligent, aquatic mammals.
They breathe air through blowholes into lungs unlike fish who breathe using
gills. Whales have sleek, streamlined bodies that move easily through the
water. They are the only mammals, other than manatees (seacows), that live their entire lives in the
water, and the only mammals that have adapted to life in the open oceans.
The biggest whale is the blue whale,
which grows to be about 94 feet (29 m) long - the height of a 9-story
building. These enormous animals eat about 4 tons of tiny krill each day,
obtained by filter feeding through baleen. Adult blue whales have no
predators except man.

MY BUSY
HOLIDAY
On March 21st, 2015, I thought
this would be a great holiday for me because that was the holy day for Hindhu
people . I was so tired about the study, so I guessed this time I could get
full refresh anyway. However, the fact said the other way.
First like an ordinary daughter, I
had to get up early morning helping my mother, of course after I prayed. Then
I did my chores, cleaned up my room, and spread out my bed under the sun ray.
I was really in danger if my mom knew that my room was messy. So, I made it
as soon as possible. Second, my relatives visited us in the afternoon. We did
not meet them for a long time, I spent my day with them. After that, unpredictable my neighbour
visited me. She asked my help finishing her homework. Then before dinner my
mother asked me to met my grand
parents who lived close of my home
having dinner with us. At last, the time was running because after
dinner we had chat until ten at night. And when I wanted to go bed I just
remembered that I had a lot of homework. I got mad, confused and regretful
why I did not check my homework before. Therefore, I did my homework until
2:00 a.m. the next morning nervously. Poor, I woke up late. So my parent were
very angry about that.

Sung-Yow has a secret. He could paint a picture and
make it come alive! This only happened when the painting was finished.
Sung-Yow loved to paint dragons. He left out their eyes because he didn’t
want them to come alive. In this way his secret stayed a secret.
The king heard that
Sung-Yow was good at painting dragons. He asked Sung-Yow to paint four
dragons on a wall. In three days the painting was almost finished. The
dragons looked like they could jump off the wall. They didn’t jump because
Sung-Yow had left out their eyes.
People came from far away
to see the paintings.
“The dragons look so
real,” they said.
“But where are their
eyes?” they asked.
“If I dotted the eyes, the
dragons would fly away,” said Sung-Yow.
Everyone laughed. No one
believed him. Sung-Yow was not happy. This time he would NOT leave out the
eyes. He painted little black dots on two of the dragons.
Crash! Crack! the wall
split open. Two dragons jumped off the wall. Sung-Yow went on to become a
very famous artist with a very famous secret.

Marie Curie was born in Poland
1867. She was the only person who gained two Nobels Prize at that time. She achieved one on
physics and one on chemistry. She was born as Marie Sklodowska, the daughter
of a chemistry professor. She was the first woman who attended University of
Sorbonne in Paris. As a poor student, she lived in Paris on only ten cents a
day for 3 years. In 1895, she married Pierre Curie, a chemist. They had two
daughters : Irene and Eve. Marrie managed three lives as a researcher, a wife
and a mother.
In 1898, Marrie discoved radium.
Later she developed a concept of radioactivity, which marked the beginning of
the atomic age. During World War 1, Marrie and her daughter completed a new
medical tool – the X – ray. Marrie died in 1934, only a year before her
daughter Irene won the Nobel Prize in chemistry.

KANGAROO
A Kangaroo is a
marsupial from the Marcopodidae family (marcopods, meaning “ large foot”). In
common use the term is used to describe the largest species from this family,
the Red Kangaroo, the Antilopine Kangaroo, and the Eastern and Western Grey

The Kangaroo is an

VACATION WITH MY BELOVED PERSONS
One day, my youngest sister said to
me that she really wanted to go to the beach. So I promised her that the next
day we would go to Maron beach in Semarang.
The next day, we prepared many
things in the morning. We brought some foods and beverages, such as fried
rice, chocolate wafers, potato chips, water and orange juice. Before going to
the beach, I ask my closefriend to join us going to the beach. He agreed to
join and he came to my house. After that, we went to the beach. We went there
by motorbike. It took 25 minutes to arrive there. Then, we bought tickets in
the entrance gate. Before swimming, we changed our clothes first. We swam
there for more than one hour. We felt so tired that we decided to eat the
foods that we had brought. Next, my closefriend and I created a very big sand
castle, while my sister continued swimming. After that, we decided to go home
because it was getting dark.
On the way home, we still felt
hungry. So we stopped at a Javanese restaurant to eat something. I ordered “gudeg”,
while my closefriend and my sister ordered “rames” rice. After finished
eating, we paid our bills. Then, we went home. We arrived at home at 6
o’clock and we were absolutely exhausted.
That was a very exhausting day, but I felt so happy that I could have a vacation with my sister and my closefriend. |
